LAURESSA BROOS

Lauressa Broos has been drawing for as long as she can remember. After secondary school, she pursued a creative education at Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, but her path towards a career as an artist was anything but conventional. Initially, she found herself working in the hospitality industry, an environment that would later become an important source of inspiration for her work.

While working in hospitality, Lauressa noticed how countless beautiful champagne bottles were discarded after use. At the same time, a trend began to emerge on social media in which empty bottles were repurposed as candle holders. It sparked an idea.

“I thought: this could be more fun, more personal, and above all, more colourful.”

After moving to Rotterdam, she transformed an empty Pol Roger magnum bottle into a hand-painted candle holder. A distinctive interior piece, but more importantly, a tangible reminder of a special moment.

When she shared her first hand-painted bottle on Instagram, requests quickly started coming in. More and more people wanted a personalised piece of their own. During the pandemic, when her work in hospitality suddenly came to a standstill, her creative practice unexpectedly had the opportunity to grow into something much bigger.

What began with a single hand-painted champagne bottle developed into a distinctive artistic world where art, design, hospitality and experience come together.

Today, Lauressa collaborates with names including Gault&Millau Netherlands, Rokkakkei, as well as various artists and DJs. For them, she creates unique, hand-painted objects and artworks that are entirely tailored to the story, person or moment they are created for.

Her canvas is no longer limited to champagne bottles. She transforms everything from Peugeot pepper and salt mills, corkscrews and vases to paintings, sculptures, knife blocks and other distinctive objects into one-of-one works of art.

Her work is characterised by a combination of colour, expression and unexpected details. No two pieces are ever the same. Each object is given its own character and story, becoming an artwork that is not only made to be looked at, but also to preserve memories.

Every original artwork is signed by Lauressa and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

The result is something that goes beyond a hand-painted object: a personal work of art, a conversation piece and a lasting memory.
